US Nursing Problems and Their Required Actions-2

Abstract

Nurses in US hospitals are facing many issues, such as long duty hours, low salaries, difficulties in finding a job, etc. This paper discusses the data analysis methods for the research study that would be done to search the issues faced by US nurses.

Introduction

Nurse practitioners are the persons who are authorised, and educated to work independently in an advanced clinical role. Their role is based in the nursing profession’s values; they provide quality health care and collaborate with other health care providers. They are facing many issues in their workplaces (McHugh, & Kutney-Lee, 2011). This paper discusses the data analysis methods of the study, which would be done to find out the major issues faced by the nurses in US.

Discussion

Data Analysis

Data analysis is important for the appropriate assessment of any plan design, its activities, strategies, and results to ensure the effectiveness of program ( McKenzie, Neiger, & Thackeray, 2009). For data analysis, evaluation of facts is very important. To find out the issues of US nurses, we would do a survey of three or more hospitals and would interview the duty nurses about their working environment, their issues, their duty hours, their salaries, etc. We would interview at least 30-40 nurses. The data analysis outcomes would depend on the following variables:

Variables of Study
Staff Attitude

The outcome would be highly dependent on staff interest and participation. If they would take interest, the outcomes would be greater.

Senior Management Participation

The results would be highly dependent on the participation of senior management, as they would allow the staffs to participate in the survey.

Ages of Nurses

Junior nurses face more issues as they are inexperienced and have low salaries as compared to senior nurses. The senior nurses have health issues, which also increase their problems.

Workplaces of Staff

The staffs working at emergency department and other busy workplaces have to do long overtimes and have more issues as compared to others.

Descriptive Statistics

The nurses who would be involved in this survey would have the ages around 25-50. These nurses would belong to wards, ER or OR. The survey would include male and female nurses equally.

Analytical Statistics

The answers of the surveys that would be taken from these nurses and would be documented and analyzed by specialized tools. The above variables would be taken into consideration. 30-40 nurses would be interviewed and they would be categorized on the basis of their issues, such as they can be divided into four groups:

  • Nurses facing issues regarding long duty hours.
  • Nurses facing issues regarding low salary.
  • Nurses facing issues regarding senior workers and colleagues.
  • Nurses facing issues regarding job search and other issues.

Tools That would be used for Processing the Data

Data would be processed by using SPSS software.

Organization and Presentation of Data and Results

After interpretation of data by various tools, it would be documented, and the results would be presented after statistical analysis, in the form of written document and would be presented in the form of posters and PowerPoint presentations.

Reliability and Validity of Data

The data would be reliable, as the results would be replicable, and the study can be repeated in other setups as well. The data would be valid, as it would include the actual interview of nurses. We would trascribe the conversations of these nurses to mantain the validity of data.

Conclusion

The above data analysis methods would be used to analyze the study facts regarding issues of US nurses and to propose a solution to their problems.
